Contoh Narrative Text Pendek - Pada pelajaran bahasa Inggris di sekolah dan dibangku kuliah, tentu teman-teman sering menemukan pelajaran mengenai Narrative Text. Pada bangku kuliah Narrative Text akan dijumpai pada mata kuliah writing and composition yang kerap juga disebut sebagai narration.

Pengertian untuk Narrative Text sendiri adalah jenis teks yang berisi tentang berbagai cerita, baik cerita fiksi, cerita non fiksi, dongeng, cerita rakyat, cerita binatang atau fabel yang umumnya berisi tentang hal-hal yang baik.

Pengertian Narrative Text

Dalam bahasa Inggris Narrative Text berarti 'A narrative text is an imaginative story to entertain people' dan apabila diterjemahkan langsung kedalam bahasa Indonesia, maka akan berarti tulisan atau teks yang berisi tentang cerita imaginatif yang bertujuan untuk menghibur orang lain.

Dari kamus bahasa Inggris, maka secara harafiah Narrative bermakna (1) a spoken or written account of connected events; a story. (2) the narrated part of a literary work, as distinct from dialogue. (3) the practice or art of narration, sehingga apabila diartikan secara langsung ke bahasa Indonesia, maka akan berarti 1. sebuah cerita baik terucap atau tertulis tentang peristiwa-peristiwa yang berhubungan. 2. bagian yang diceritakan dalam sebuah karya sastra, berbeda dengan dialog. 3. Praktik atau seni bercerita.

Pada umumnya pengertian Narrative akan disimpulan sebagai teks yang berisi sebuah cerita baik tertulis ataupun tidak tertulis dan terdapat rangkaian peristiwa yang saling terhubung.

Contoh Narrative Text Pinokio (The Real Story of Pinocchio)

He great Italian pine forest, was lonely. He always dreamed about having a son.

Each day, he went cutting woods for the towns people. One day, an idea illuminated his mind, the idea of crafting a puppet, which he will call it Pinocchio. He crafted that puppet and during the night, the puppet becomes alive!
One year of happiness and thriller passed, on a Sunday morning, Gepetto told Pinocchio:
Its my birthday soon, my little son! I hope you didnt forget it!
Euh, sure, I didnt!

Pinocchio felt awkward. He didnt thought about that. Gepettos birthday was coming in only three days, and he hadnt even a present.

After a long night of reflecting, Pinocchio finally decided to offer a homemade chocolate cake to him as a present.
When the sun rose, Pinocchio was already ready to go outside find the ingredients. The main problem was he didnt even known the in and the recipe.

So after school, he decided to go ask someone for the ingredients to bake a cake. During his walk, Pinocchio, the wooden puppet, met the towns sorcerer.

Hey, little boy, do you need some help for your chocolate cake?

HumYou can help me?, asked Pinocchio.

Sure, I can. Follow me!

After walking few minutes so, Pinocchio saw a big, big, big candy house. They entered together and Pinocchio got caught by a big cage.

Mouahahaha!!! I finally caught you! Youll be mine, youre gonna work for me!, said the evil sorcerer.
Pinocchio was so scared. When the guards came and took him out of the cage, he immediately ran away very fast and he succeeded to escape.

At the same time, the evil sorcerer, calling all his troops with him, ran after him and he took out his magic wand. The evil devil changed the little wooden puppet into a chocolate cake!

When he came back home, he told the entire story to his father and they went to find the god fairy.
After a long trip, they finally find the god fairy and they got the magical potion for Pinocchio.

Contoh Narrative Text Cinderella (Another Cinderella Story)

Once upon a time, there was a young girl named Cinderella. She lived with her step mother and two step sisters.
The step mother and sisters were conceited and bad tempered. They treated Cinderella very badly. Her step mother made Cinderella do the hardest works in the house; such as scrubbing the floor, cleaning the pot and pan and preparing the food for the family. The two step sisters, on the other hand, did not work about the house. Their mother gave them many handsome dresses to wear.

One day, the two step sister received an invitation to the ball that the kings son was going to give at the palace. They were excited about this and spent so much time choosing the dresses they would wear. At last, the day of the ball came, and away went the sisters to it. Cinderella could not help crying after they had left.

Why are crying, Cinderella? a voice asked. She looked up and saw her fairy godmother standing beside her, because I want so much to go to the ball said Cinderella. Well said the godmother,youve been such a cheerful, hardworking, uncomplaining girl that I am going to see that you do go to the ball.

Magically, the fairy godmother changed a pumpkin into a fine coach and mice into a coachman and two footmen. Her godmother tapped Cinderellas raged dress with her wand, and it became a beautiful ball gown. Then she gave her a pair of pretty glass slippers. Now, Cinderella, she said; You must leave before midnight. Then away she drove in her beautiful coach.

Cinderella was having a wonderfully good time. She danced again and again with the kings son. Suddenly the clock began to strike twelve, she ran toward the door as quickly as she could. In her hurry, one of her glass slipper was left behind.
A few days later, the king son proclaimed that he would marry the girl whose feet fitted the glass slipper. Her step sisters tried on the slipper but it was too small for them, no matter how hard they squeezed their toes into it. In the end, the kings page let Cinderella try on the slipper. She stuck out her foot and the page slipped the slipper on. It fitted perfectly.

Finally, she was driven to the palace. The kings son was overjoyed to see her again. They were married and live happily ever after.

Contoh Narrative Text Legend (The Legend of Lake Toba)

There was a fisherman who lived in Batak Land. His name was Batara Guru Sahala. When he was angling, he caught a fish. He was surprised to find that fish because the fish could talk and it begged to set it free. He did accordingly.

After getting free, the fish changed into a beautiful woman and Sahala fell in love with her. Sahala asked her to marry him and the woman received him. However, she asked his promised not to tell anyone the secret that she was once a fish. They were very happily married, and got two daughters.

It was a pity on Sahala. One day when he got very angry with his daughters, he forgot his promise and he broke it. He told his daughters that they were the daughters of a fish.

His wife could not forgive him. Suddenly, the earth began to shake and volcanoes started to erupt. The earth cracked and formed a big hole. People said that the hole became Lake Toba.
